SPONGE TECH: Infomercial Review
SPONGE TECH: Infomercial ReviewSo a commercial for the new product, Sponge Tech Car Wash, starts off with a riddle: “When is a sponge not a sponge?”
OO OO, I know this one! I'm great at riddles. Let's see: When it's Sponge Bob Square Pants? When it's under the ocean (A sponge is a kind of sea life, you know).
Hey, here's another one: What's full of holes but can still hold water? A sponge.
So their answer to the riddle: A sponge is not a sponge when it's a complete car washing system with a waxing system built in. Or when it's a complete dog washing and shampoo system.
Hey, that's not funny at all. But the idea here is that this sponge (or this “not a sponge” is heavy-duty so it doesn't tear up easily. But even more, it has these different cleaning agents made as part of the sponge itself. Great idea and I've already ordered mine to use for washing my car.
Still, I think they kind of ruined this commercial for the average guy like me. First, any guy worth his salt is going to have a fit if he sees his new car-washing sponge being used on the dog (as in the commercial). Dog may be man's best friend, but he is not meant to be put through man's car wash.
Even more disturbing is the older woman at the end who holds up a standard soiled sponge and just looks at it in disgust. This woman, I promise you, looks and acts just like my mother-in-law, with her disapproving looks.
Which is why, when she visits, I spend all my time washing my car. She's visiting again next week. Hope my Sponge Tech gets here soon.
